A senior care facility of the highest level. For the Beaux-Arts residence in the centre of Ghent, a total concept for the interior design and experience was developed. The vision of healing environments took shape in a warm, home-like place for residents, visitors, passers-by and caregivers.
Aldea’s Residentie Beaux-Arts in Ghent combines a high-quality care hotel with care apartments. Studio M advised the (interior) architect, project manager(s) and client in the concept development and elaboration of the entrance hall, lobby, multi-purpose room and living areas, the library, the outdoor areas and the restaurant. Attention was also paid to the rooms and assisted living flats. They are all different in layout and have a terrace overlooking the historic heart of Ghent.
Between the rooms and assisted living flats, a recognisable and fictional common thread was spun that reinforces the unity and home-like experience of the entire building. This means that it never feels like a care environment, but rather like a friendly, welcoming place where everyone likes to visit and where people are encouraged to meet each other. This is partly thanks to the residents’ restaurant that flows into a public restaurant through the open kitchen.
